Overview: The Venetian is a single-player level for Gears of War inspired by the canals of Venice. Marcus, the hero of the Gears universe found himself trapped in the canals. A helicopter was enroute to rescue him, but the Locust manages to shoot it down just before it reached Marcus. He needs to get to the crash site before the Locust does.

Design Goals:

  • Create a polished three-minute experience within one week
  • Provide player freedom with parallel routes featuring different advantages
  • Realize the canals of Venice in the post-apocalyptic grunge style of Gears of War
  • Vary playspace elevation to increase verticality

Mission Type: Single-player stand-alone

Play Time: ~3 minutes
